ABM Panel package

What's included in our standard ABM metal panel roof

← ABM Panel

Drive around Central PA and you’ll see this roof everywhere: on farmhouses, shops, barns, and plenty of houses in town. It’s been the practical choice here for generations, and it’s earned that. It costs less than a standing seam and it keeps doing its job for a very long time.

Here’s everything that goes into ours. Color is the fun part. This is everything else.

What’s in the package

  • New 1x4 purlins. Wood strips fastened across the roof to give the panels a straight, solid plane to bite into and an air space underneath. This is the bones of the whole system, and every screw in your roof lands in one of them.
  • 28-gauge premium G-100 ABM panels, 36 inches of coverage. Ribs every 9 inches, 3/4 inch tall, in your choice of more than 25 colors. Panels are cut to the exact length of your roof, so the runs are continuous with no seams across the slope.
  • Heat-formed panels. This one’s invisible and it matters. When steel is bent cold, the paint can develop microscopic cracks right at the bend, and that’s where rust starts. A.B. Martin heats the panel before forming it so the coating flexes instead of cracking. You’d need a microscope to see the difference now. You’ll see it eventually if it isn’t done.
  • ZXL WoodBinder screws. The fastener is the part everyone worries about on an exposed-fastener roof, so we don’t cut corners here. These carry a 40-year warranty, have zinc-aluminum molded heads that won’t red-rust even if they get chipped during installation, and use a UV-protected washer that doesn’t dry out and shrink the way cheap ones do.
  • A complete trim package. Gutter apron along the eaves, gable flashing at the soffit, vented ridge capping at the peak, preformed valley flashing wherever your roof has a valley, plus new chimney flashing, endwall flashing, and sidewall flashing. Every place the roof meets something else gets new metal.
  • Vented ridge capping. Lets attic heat and moisture escape at the peak, which protects the roof from underneath and helps with ice damming in winter.
  • New roof boots. Every plumbing vent and exhaust pipe gets a new seal. Old boots crack and pull away from the pipe long before the roof around them wears out.
  • Snow retention, on most roofs. Metal sheds snow all at once instead of gradually. A Snow Defender package holds it in place so it comes down under control, away from your gutters, your landscaping, your doors, and anyone standing under the eave. We’ll confirm whether your roof calls for it.
  • All debris hauled away. The job leaves clean, with magnetic sweeps for screws and nails before we go.

Evaluated on your specific home

  • Whether this is the right system for your house. Not every roof is a good candidate, and we’d rather tell you that at the consultation than after we’re on the roof. We’ll walk you through how we’d approach yours specifically.
  • How much trim your roof needs. Valleys, chimneys, dormers, and walls all get hand-fitted flashing. We count what’s on your roof, not what’s on an average one.

What backs it

Our 10-year Esh Builders workmanship warranty covers the installation. The premium G-100 panels carry a 40-year manufacturer warranty plus a 10-year edge rust warranty, with the exact terms listed on your proposal. We file the warranty registration for you.

What’s not included

Gutters and downspouts, skylights, structural repairs, and any interior damage from an existing leak. If something turns up mid-project, you hear it from us first, with a price, before the work happens.

When you’re ready, we’ll come out, walk your roof, and tell you honestly whether this is the right system for your house, this year or a few years down the road.
